lyrics
Here with you, love is like the sea
and the ebbing of the tide will sweep you far from me
Where your arms stop holding me
and the turning of your heart makes clear what you mean
Well you say, 'I got better things to do than wait for you to find your way'
As you lay, on the bed where we were lovers once, and future kings and queens all that we surveyed
Your head hanging down as you lie back and sigh, saying, 'I could try...
but in the time that it would take me to explain, you're gone again.'
The walls that stand around me, love
are nothing but a space in which I held you up
Where you stayed with me for a time
and whispered all the broken parts that made you mine
Where I said, 'From the kitchen to the bed might be the only place I ever need to go'
And the corners of your mouth, turned to north from south, and I counted it a win, though I guess I had to know
You were counting down the days, you were adding up the ways, and marking time,
so you could make an honest claim that you had tried, before it died
So you say, 'I got better things to do than wait for you to find your way'
As you lay, on the bed where we were lovers once, and future kings and queens of all that we surveyed
Your head hanging down as you lie back and sigh, saying, 'I could try...
but in the time that it would take me to explain, you're gone again.'
I know you, you are like the sea
and the ebbing of the tide will sweep you far from me

Gives me old school Drive-By Truckers vibes (Cooley worship). The hard rocking guitar tones emit a classic alt/country/outlaw attitude while resonating with a Tom Petty meets Lucero twang. Bucky
Another solid effort start to finish. Very much a life lesson storytelling lyricist. To me still is very similar to James McMurtry which is not a bad thing. Looks like another album is dropping soon. That’s good news. Yimmy Kil

A very clever songwriter and an album that bears many, many repeat listens. Worth the price for the Little Feat reference (in Tehachapi) alone, but it's her way with an image that sticks longest. "You left the building in a flurry / Had your boots on in the house." Caoimhín
